Activedits time proven popularity has been documented by peers in the development community all over the world. The most recent "Readers Choice Award" recognized CFDev and Activedit with the "Best Custom Tag" and "Best CF Development Firm" for NETDesign Inc., parent company to CFDev. Over thirteen thousand (13,000) votes were cast and thousands of custom tags competed for the "ColdFusion Developer Journal" award. The winner: Activedit.
The Activedit client base spans the globe. The software product is purchased by very large firms and very small. Activedits very familiar Microsoft Word-type interface ensures a very easy point-and-click interface. Activedit, purchased mainly by developers at third party companies, provides developers with the ability to embed a HTML editor into a Web page and save the generated HTML into a database, file, email, etc. The tool functions like a HTML text area inside a form. One new feature of Activedit 2.5 is the spell checker. This feature is also made possible by a tag of CFDev, "ActivSpellCheck". The spell check tag is also available via CFDev and the Allaire exchange.
New in this version: - The very frequently requested "spell checker" - Multiple instances of Activedit in one page - Customizable tool bars - Easily toggle the visibility of buttons - Tab View - Allows users to easily switch between Activedit and the HTML source code. - Special Characters Create or paste in special characters, such as trademark (TM) or copyright (c)
According to Pete Freitag, CTO, CFDev, "Activedit 2.5 is a product produced nearly 100% per our customers requests and suggestions. We have a dynamic customer base that is always giving us suggestions, and the goal of the 2.5 release was to be more customer-centric in our approach to the upgrade."
